HOW I SHOWED KINDNESS

By Ale

I moved from Costa Rica to Mexico on June 2007.  Before leaving Costa Rica my mother and I made more than 3 bags of things that were in very good conditions and could be very useful, but it was hard to carry them to another country. It was hard for us to give away some of the things but we were happy to give them since we knew they would be in good hands. We made sure in each bag there was a little bit of everything.

After that we took those bags to a house that we found where a very, very poor family lived that had a sick kid, and that slept on bars of wood. The house had only one room and it had a very small area in the entrance to be at during the day that was connected to the kitchen. They did not have a bathroom and they got only 1 small bag of rice, 3 slices of meat, 2 cans of beans, and 4 snacks a month.

After visiting this family, I realized how lucky we are to have enough food at home and to have bathrooms and everything we need. I know we still have to help a lot.
