A Helping Hand

By: Olivia

Today is a holiday and it was supposed to be a very good day. It was going really well until my mother told me to do my homework. I started to do it but then I did not understand a question and my mom would not help me. I got really angry!!! I was about to throw my books down and get really upset but I told her, “Thank you anyway,” and walked anyway.

After I was done with my homework, my grandparents came to our house and my grandma was carrying a very heavy platter of food. I decided to take it from her so that she would not hurt herself. My grandma was so grateful that I helped her. She and I enjoyed donuts together.

After I was done helping my grandma, I burnt my hand on the stove and my mom helped me because it hurt a lot. After that we had a big dinner and opened presents. Then my grandparents left and I watched TV and finally fell asleep at midnight.

Title: No Bullying!

By: Wesley

Did you ever have a bad day where absolutely nothing seems to go right? It was terribly hot in Venice, FL, where I attend Epiphany Cathedral School and the clothes I wore that day were too warm. I forgot to bring my homework to school even though I stayed late doing it. Traffic was heavy and I was late on top of everything else.

I guess you could say I was in a very angry mood when I saw something on the playground during recess. There was a person being bullied. The bully wanted the kid’s ball and I could see that he was grabbing it. The other kids were avoiding the bully. As an upperclassman I suggested that we all should play catch and everyone joined in.

After that I felt really good about helping those two kids become friends and hopefully the bully will never bully again.

People Helping People

Today was just like everyday. I woke up, took a shower, and hurried off to school. School is not the highlight of my life but it’s better than staying at home. Some days I wish school was just the place where you hung and chilled but of course, NO! “There’s work to be done and places to see,” as my parents would say. I am ok at school because it makes my parents happy, so I’m happy.

Today when I went to school I knew I couldn’t use some lame excuse to go home. This was because mom was sick. I wasn’t feeling the greatest, but I knew my mom needed some time to get better and have a silent house. My house can get loud at times like all homes.

So once school got out I knew I needed to help my mom out by taking care of my little sister. My little sister who is eight is the baby in the family. I had to make her a snack or she would tell just like any bratty sister. So I made her a snack and helped her with her homework.

Once my mom got better after a day or two, good things came to me. I was now a great role model for my little sister.

So, the next time you think someone needs your help, ask how you can help or just do it!
